The Specialist Flooring Group had the privilege of contributing to a transformative development at the iconic Tate Modern Gallery in London. Our part in this ambitious project involved extensive floor preparation and screeding work in the new exhibition centre and café area.

In the exhibition centre, which spans approximately 6000m2 across the first three floors, we performed a full floor mechanical abrasion. This was followed by the application of Isocrete primer and the careful laying of 5-50mm of Isocrete 1500, ensuring a smooth and resilient surface ready for the final flooring installation.

In the new café area, our team expertly installed 600m2 of Isocrete K Screed, incorporating Hydroseal and Isocrete 1500. All flooring work achieved an SR1 tolerance, the highest standard in the industry, reflecting our commitment to excellence.

This project was part of a larger vision to redefine the Tate Modern for the 21st century. The gallery has added an impressive new building to the south of its existing space, expanding its capacity for displaying collections, performance and installation art, and learning spaces. These enhancements will allow visitors to engage more deeply with art and enjoy more social spaces within the gallery to unwind and relax.

As the Tate Modern evolves, we’re proud to have played a part in its transformation, demonstrating our ability to deliver high-quality flooring solutions for prestigious cultural institutions.
